What types of issues can you help with ?

I specialize in preventing and addressing a range of behavioral issues in dogs. This includes reducing stress, managing unwanted behaviors, helping with reactivity and anxiety, and making adjustments to improve your dog’s quality of life. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan tailored to your dog’s unique needs.

Positive reinforcement means rewarding your dog right after a desired behavior, encouraging them to repeat it in the future. This approach strengthens the bond between you and your dog, reduces anxiety, and creates a learning environment without punishment, which is both effective and kind.

I begin by assessing your dog’s current environment and past experiences, including their social interactions, activities, and preferences. This assessment helps me understand any triggers or areas for improvement, so we can create a supportive and balanced environment for your dog.

Environmental enrichment provides physical, sensory, and mental activities that allow dogs to express natural behaviors, which can reduce stress and improve overall well-being. This can include scent work, exercise, social interactions, and puzzle toys, all of which help prevent boredom and enhance your dog’s quality of life.

Absolutely! Rescue dogs or those from shelters often need additional support as they adjust to a new home. My tailored approach helps identify and manage any anxiety or stress triggers, making the transition smoother and more comfortable for your new companion.

Environmental interventions can include setting up quiet zones for dogs sensitive to noise, creating safe spaces for dogs in homes with children, or offering sensory activities like snuffle mats or calming music. These adaptations help your dog feel safe, calm, and happy in their environment.

Antecedent control is about minimising and controlling the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviours. The more a dog practices a behaviour, the more entrenched it will become, and we therefore need to find more appropriate, replacement behaviours, but also to prevent the behaviour from occurring in the first place.

No, punishment-based methods often increase anxiety and can worsen behavioral issues. I use positive training methods, which are proven to improve learning, reduce fear, and build trust. Positive reinforcement encourages the behaviors we want without causing harm.
